Project Services Section – Safety Specialist Third-Party Oversight

Location – Northeastern, U.S. – Per Diem, travel and lodging to be included

Experience – Preferably 5 years in the occupational safety and health industry, with a focus on construction standards.

Salary – Dependent on experience and certifications. ~$40-$65 per hour.

Project Length – 6 months in scope, with opportunities for full-time position upon completion of project.

SCR will provide a Safety Representative whose project duties will include, but are not limited to:

• The safety representative will oversee safety of the worksite and work being performed by the contractors and subcontractors, and ensure OSHA construction regulations are being adhered to.
• This safety professional will be responsible for administering Host Employer’s Safety Program and Site-Specific Safety Plan.
• Conduct daily inspections of the project workspace including, PPE, safe work, LOTO, Hot Work, waste management, fall protection, housekeeping, electrical safety, scaffolding, incident investigation, etc.
• Ensure any EHS related items, including OSHA recordable injuries, first aid cases, environmental releases, and near misses are investigated and reported to the appropriate parties.
• Conduct new hire training and orientation for contractors on the job site.
• Actively engage with management and contractor supervision on occupational safety and health best practices during day-to-day operations.
• Create recommendations for corrective actions based on risk factors.
• Develop and deliver client specific training on multiple safety and health topics when requested by client.
• Serve as a liaison and provide representation for clients with government agencies, such as OSHA and EPA when requested by client.
• Maintain a system for reporting, monitoring and correcting serious safety problems in cooperation with Host Employer management.
• Maintain Host Employer emergency plans and respond to safety and employee emergencies.
• Monitor and control industrial hygiene when requested by client (additional cost upon request) such as chemical exposure, noise, lighting, heat and humidity.
• Halting any operation or work activity that constitutes an imminent hazard to personnel or equipment.
• Adhere to all of client’s policies and procedures.
